Health Department officials led by Ganjam Range-1 Drugs Inspector Dr Sudarshan Biswal and Range-II Drugs Inspector Debasish Patra seized sample medicines worth lakhs from one Sameer Patra of Brahma Nagar here on Saturday. On a tipoff, Deputy Drugs Controller Nilamadhav Das directed the officials to conduct the raid, where the sample medicines were stored for selling those to poor patients in rural areas at a higher cost. A case has been registered against Patra. It is observed that medical representatives are diverting medicines to individual brokers at low cost to sell them to poor rural patients at a higher price.
