Hundreds of poor tribals from Mohana, Nuagarh, Gumma, R Udayagiri and Gosani blocks have urged the district and State administrations to check rampant presence of quacks and sale of spurious drugs in Gajapti district.
They alleged that quacks have flourished, taking advantage of the innocence and illiteracy of the poor tribals in the interior pockets. The villagers also alleged that the quacks too are giving bribes to the Government officials and police to continue their operations unhampered. They even alleged that at many medicine shops, the shopkeepers are selling spurious drugs and medicines even after their expiry dates.
