After getting frequent allegations from the public and the road users, a high level meeting chaired by the RDC (ND) DV Swami was held to instruct construction firm Ashoka Buildcon of the Sambalpur-luhurachati road, a part of the old NH 6, to carry out immediate repairing.
It was warned that toll collection would totally be stopped on the road and action under Section 133 of CrPC would be initiated. Collector of Sambalpur Samarth Verma was also present in the meeting.
A lot many things were in the agreement to make the road an ultramodern one at a very high cost of construction. But very poor quality of work has been done from the beginning to the end and there are frequent complaints by the users and experts, including the police.
The road that connects Mumbai to Kolkata with a number of other important cities en route is frequented by vehicles in good numbers. But they hardly get the chance for a smooth ride.
The bad portion from Sambalpur to Remed has created frequent accidents and become totally unfit for use. Further, the residents near the portion face acute problem since the drainage system has not been executed properly, resulting in non- discharge of the rain water.
At times, the rain water floods the service roads causing added problems to the users, who don’t prefer the main road to avoid rush.
The construction firm agreed to comply with the instructions.
