A dance troupe consisting of 15 artists from Sambalpur is set to perform at the World Culture Festival-2015 to be held in Indonesia from August 25.
Cultural troupes from different parts of the world would congregate at Purwakarta in Indonesia for the cultural extravaganza; and Sambalpuri is one of them, said Alok Panda, the group leader of the Sambalpuri Folk Tribal Art Center.
“It is an opportunity for us to represent the Sambalpuri dance form accompanied by
vibrant music in front of people of the entire world,”
he said.
In films like Bhukha, Sala Budha, Adima Bichar, Director Sabyasachi Mahapatra has made all-out efforts to add Sambalpuri dance in these films. When the films were screened abroad, the dance form
was highly applauded there, Panda said.
“Though our
performances on the world stage, we will take the dance form to new heights,”
he added.
Besides Sambalpuri, the only one troupe selected
from India to perform at the cultural extravaganza is Bhangra from Gurdaspur
in Punjab.
