S'pur civil society for action against corrupt bankers

Published on:

People irrespective of party line and a good number from the civil society demanded exemplary action against those bankers involved in corruption during the demonetisation period.

In spite of all odds, the common people supported the stand taken by Prime Minister Modi to bring economy on the right track. But corrupt bankers did everything to fizzle out a noble endeavour, they opined.

First woman cost accountant of western odisha Tanmaya Sibadarshini Pradhan alleged that all these happened due to lack of proper ground work for which the economic offenders got an escape route.

At the beginning, people of the country showed their respect to the bankers as they worked day in and out to help the customers and public as well. News in newspapers apart, social media also appealed people to respect and appreciated the bankers who were doing hard labour till late night and even on holidays after demonetization. Even none other than the Prime Minister of the country appreciated the post demonetization situation the bankers faced.

But due to illegal practice by a few of the bankers and some of them in the higher position, the entire community is blamed now and it is also a fact that their mischief and greed foiled a well planned programme to curb black money which is more dangerous than any other problems of the country, they alleged.

Hence, what is needed is stringent action against such people who have deceived the nation, they demanded.

“In my opinion the problem of black money and corruption is more acute than that of Pakistani terrorism. Once corruption is wiped out, India could be the leading nation of the world.  And to achieve it, the Prime Minister took a right step. But people associated with monetary business and mainly bankers foiled the plan, alleged Dr Shyamakant

Bisi, a conscious citizen. There must be stringent action against such people to teach others a lesson, he demanded.
