The Puri police have formed a special team to probe the burglary at the house of The Pioneer reporter Saroj Kumar Mishra on June 7.

The team led by city DSP Janaradan Padhee would probe the burglaries of gold jewelleries, cash and financial bonds from the house of Mishra.

Puri SP K Vishal Singh Singh has ordered the IICs of Town and Baselisahi PS to assist Padhee in the investigation and recover the stolen items as early as possible.

Some burglars had entered Mishra’s bedroom by breaking the window and looted gold and silver jewelleries, Rs 10,000 cash and some bonds of insurance companies from a steel almirah after breaking open the locker.

The special team was formed after Mishra meet the SP on Saturday after no progress was made in the probe ever after fortnight of lodging of the FIR.

He requested the SP for special attention so that his hard earned valuables kept for daughter marriage could be recovered.

During the incident, nobody was present in the room and Mishra was sleeping in the drawing room of the house. He lives with his mother only and all other family members live in Bhubaneswar.

After the incident, a police team from the Town PS reached his house and began an investigation. Police also collected some mobile phone numbers from the locality.

But even after four days, the SIT is yet to be in action mode. As the City DSP leading the SIT is busy in arrangements for the Rath Yatra, the team cannot proceed in the investigation.
