Promotion of spiritual and moral education is a need for building up a healthy and developed society, and this can be possible by good characters having a strong inclination for serving the humanity.
Gajapati Maharaja of Puri Dibyasingha Deb opined this at the 34th foundation day celebration of the Sivananda Centenary Boys’ High School here on Friday.
Stating that education is imparted at three places, one’s house, educational institution and the society, and the Gajapati, who is also chairman of the school’s development committee, said house and society are so broad that they can’t be changed, but educational institutions can take initiatives to build good characters.
Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan gracing the occasion as chief guest praised the school for focusing on character building in students. He hoped that the school, based on the ideologies of Sivananda, would be once a laboratory for spiritual and moral education in the world.
The programme presided over by Antarjatiya Dibyajeeban Sangha vice-president and school managing committee vice-president Swami Nirliptananda Saraswati was attended by Rashtriya loksevak Mandal secretary and ‘Samaj’ publisher Niranjan Rath, sculptor Bhabani Shankar Mishra, Chartered Accountant Rajeeb Sekhar Sahoo and SMC member Satyendra Narayan Tripathy as speakers.
At the outset, SMC secretary Swami Chidananda had delivered the welcome address and joint secretary Swami Jagannathananda introduced the guests.
