The BJD on Monday questioned the BJP’s claim that the Union Government has provided lPG chullas (stoves) to 30 lakh beneficiaries free of cost and spent Rs 1,500 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in Odisha and said the claim, if true, amounts to a massive irregularity needing a probe.
“There is no provision of providing lPG stoves free-of-cost under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Every beneficiary needs to buy gas stove and bear filling cost. Those who will not be able to provide cost of the gas and filling cost, they are provided loan from concerned gas companies and the loans are recovered in instalments though deduction of subsidy prices. If Rs 1,500 crore was spent for this purpose, then where are those 30 lakh stoves kept nowij It is a massive irregularity.
Will the BJP, which has always demanded CBI probe in each case, seek for such a probe into this irregularityij” wanted to know BJD spokesperson Dr Sasmit Patra.
