A designated special court adjudicating exclusively matters pertaining to the SC and ST (prevention of Atrocities) Act on Mondayrejected the bail application of arrested fake godman Santosh Raul alias Sarathi Baba. The court of SN Rajguru had earlier also refused bail to Sarathi’s adopted son Satyam Raul, who is also cooling his heels behind the bars in the Choudwar jail since last month.
After perusing the case diaries of Saeathi submitted by the Crime Branch, the designated court refused to grant him bail at this stage when the prosecution objected saying investigations into the allegations against the fake godman are still continuing. “We will move the High Court for the bail, said his counsel Manas Chand.
Sarathi was arrested by the Crime Branch on August 8 under Sections 120-B, 420, 467, 341, 379 and 506 of IPC along with Section 3 of SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Section 25 of Arms Act and Section 7 of Religious Institutions (Prevention of Misuse) Act.
