The State unit of the Samajwadi Party (SP) has urged Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik to ask his party parliamentarians to raise the demand for inclusion of the Odisha OBC Reservation of Vacancies Act, 2008 in the ninth Schedule of the Constitution.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, party president Rabi Behera requested the regional party to ensure that the reservation issue is discussed in the ensuing Parliament session beginning Tuesday. Behera said as the State Government is going to fill up 66,000 vacancies in different categories soon, there should be 27 per cent reservation for OBCs.
He also said OBC youths will get employment in 17,820 posts if 27 per cent reservation in jobs is kept for them.
