Samajwadi Party State president Rabi Behera urged the State Government to immediately take steps for implementation of reservation in private sector and outsourcing of job.
He said that though SC/ST and OBC population of the State is around 90 per cent, the welfare measure taken in the field of reservation by the Government is not proportionate. Citing the Bihar Government’s step of implementing 50 per cent reservation in outsourcing jobs and private sector which was announced by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday, Behera said Odisha being one of the prime destinations of private ventures needs to follow a similar policy since more jobs in the private and corporate sector are likely to be created. He lamented that in Odisha, the Government is implementing only 11.25 per cent OBC reservation in employment and no reservation in the field of admission.
He said Odisha stands third in attracting private capital for industrialization next to Gujarat and Maharashtra. Possibility of employment opportunity in coming days in private sector looks bright in Odisha. Hence, the Government of Odisha should take all care for extending reservation into private sector for SCs, STs and OBCs in the State, argued Behera.
He also requested all MlAs and MPs and social justice forces to rise above political differences for presurizing the Government for implementation of reservation in private sector.
