SP urges CM to check price rise

The Samajwadi Party on Monday urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to convene a high-level meeting under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to keep a close watch on price rise due to truckers’ countrywide indefinite strike.

The party in a letter to the Chief Minister, party’s State president Rabi Behera said market price of vegetables, potato, onion, dal, sugar and fish has gone up. Even price of other essential commodities has also increased in the market due to the strike, he added.

Behera demanded criminal action against the hoarders and black marketers. He suggested the State Government to direct District Collectors and SPs to raid the godown of the whole sellers, who are responsible for artificial hike of market price of essential commodities.
