SP urges CM for 27% OBC reservation

Samajwadi Party State president Rabi Behera on Monday urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to ensure a 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in the State.

Behera in a letter to the Chief Minister requested him to take up the matter with the Prime Minister during his visit to New Delhi. “Patnaik should urge upon the Prime Minister for inclusion of the Odisha Reservation Act-2008 in IXth schedule of the Constitution for larger interest of 52 per cent of OBCs staying in the State,” said SP in the letter.

He also stated that the State Government has planned to fulfill 61,000 vacant posts by March 31, 2015. “If 27 per cent OBC reservation is not ensured these communities are going to lose around 9,608 posts as the State by its circular dated June 24 this year has reduced OBC reservation in the State to 11.25 per cent,” said Behera.
