Adjudicating over several petitions pertaining to the caste controversy of Sundargarh MlA Jogesh Chandra Singh, the Odisha High Court on Friday directed the Sndargarh SP to enquire about the allegations levelled against the Congress MlA. The SP has been asked to file a report to the Court within two weeks.
Petitions filed by voters as well as leaders from various political parties had alleged that the Congress leader had been contesting the elections from the reserved Assembly segment by producing fake ST certificate. It is alleged that Singh belongs to Khandayat Bhuyan sect, which has not been recognised as a scheduled tribe (ST) in the State. Singh, however, has been representing the reserved segment in the Assembly since 2009.
