The Samajwadi Party State committee on Saturday submitted a memorandum to Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha demanding establishment of wagon factories at Sitalapalli and Narla and introduction of an express train under the name Biju Centenary Express from Puri to New Delhi via Sambalpur.
“Odisha gives annual revenue of Rs 14,000 crore to the Railways. The Railway Ministry had announced to establish rail wagon washery unit at Narla and a wagon factory at Sitalapali in Ganjam in 2011-12. But no budget provision has been made for these two units. This, in our view, is another betrayal to the interest of Odisha. Hence, we request you to take immediate steps for establishment of the two projects,” demanded party State president Rabi Behera.
Mentioning that the Ministry has introduced Dayalu Coaches in honour of Din Dyala Upaddhyay, Behera too urged Sinha to introduce a Biju Centenary Express train from Puri to Bhubaneswar via Sambalpur to honour Biju Pattnaik in his birth centenary year.
