The Samajwadi Party (SP) took out a rally here on Tuesday condemning the statement of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on the Mahanadi water row and burnt his effigy.
The Chhattisgarh CM at Raigharh told recently that nobody can deprive Chhattisgarh of water of Mahanadi. He also said whenever comes election, Odisha raises the Mahanadi issue.
SP State president Rabi Behera said Singh’s statement is against the spirit of federalism and interest of Odisha. Behera alleged that after the misguided speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 26 rally at Cuttack, the Chhatisgarh Chief Minister has got a shot in the arm and was making irresponsible statement. He urged Modi to intervene.
Among others SP State secretary Sudarshan Pradhan, farmer leader Bijaya Behera, youth leader Pradip Mishra, Dipti lenka, Santosh Balabantaray, Sanjaya Nayak and women leader Rebati Pradhan led the rally.
