The Samajwadi Party (SP), Odisha unit on Sunday organised a demonstration here opposing the VHP’s Ayodhya-New Delhi Ram Rath Yatra. Alleging that the Ram Ratha Yatra would create communal tension and jeopardize social amity and brotherhood, the party demanded that the VHP rally should be stopped forthwith. “The Centre, which has failed in providing two crore job to unemployed youths and remunerative price to the farmers for their produce and checking black money circulation, has taken the plea of Ram Rath Yatra on Sourya Divas to divert the peoples’ attention,” alleged party State president Rabi Behera.
He has called upon all Left and democratic secular forces to oppose the Ratha Yatra. The party questioned the intention of fundamentalist forces on Ram Temple construction while a case is pending in the SC.
