The Commissionerate police on Tuesday wrote to the concerned authorities to freeze two bank accounts in Kolkata of singer Sourin Bhatt, who is accused in a harassment case.
“We have written to the concerned authorities to freeze Sourin Bhatt’s two bank accounts. It will be done within couple of days. We did this to pressurise him to surrender before the police. We are also in touch with the Kolkata police. We are also trying to trace his whereabouts” said a senior police official.
The Commissionerate police had on Monday issued Lookout Circular against Sourin. A police team had gone to Kolkata to trace Sourin. But the team was unable to find the singer even after conducting searches at some locations in Kolkata.
“Sourin had earlier received interim protection from the Orissa High Court. Later, the High Court revoked it. Subsequently, we issued a notice to the accused for deposing before the Investigating Officer. However, he ignored the notice and didn’t appear,” said Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra.
One of our teams had gone to Kolkata and went to his residence, but he was not present there. We have now issued a lookout notice against him. He won’t be able to leave the country now. We are trying to crommunicate with him,” added Mishra
The Orissa High Court had earlier rejected his anticipatory bail plea in the case and told him to cooperate with the police in the investigations.
