Sound recorder pays filmy tribute to his mother

Well-know Bollywood sound-recorder Subash Sahoo (48) has paid tribute to his mother by making a 30-minute documentary film on her.

Sahoo, a recipient of President’s award four years back for best audiography at the 57th National Film Awards for Hindi movie Kaminey, has made the movie Sebabou on his octogenarian mother Sachitra, who has been staying at Rajbaluria village in Ali block of Kendrapada district. Sahoo said, “My mother was a great motivator. Due to her inspiration, I have achieved success in my life. So, this documentary film is a tribute her,”

On the title of the film, he said Seba is the name of his eldest daughter. Everybody addresses his mother as Sebabou (the mother of Seba). He has given a cultural touch of rural life as most of the rural people still use to address a woman by affixing the name of her eldest child. Sahoo added, “I have learnt from people in the industry who are sensible and principled directors.” He believes sound is one of the most important technical aspects that can make or mar a scene. His major films in Hindi include Sudhir Mishra’s Khoya Khoya Chand, Navdeep Singh’s Manorama Six Feet Under, Piyush Jha’s Sikander, Robby Grewal’s Samay, Diwakar Banerjee’s Khosla Ka Ghonsla, Hanslal Mehta’s Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai and Bal Ganesh and Ashwini Dhir’s Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge.
