Soumya revives Sankalp Samabesh

Published on:

After silence for over three weeks, senior Congress leader Soumya Ranjan Patnaik on Friday resumed his Sankalp Samabesh claiming to strengthen the Congress at the grassroots level. This time, the venue of the rally was Nayagarh. His Assembly constituency, Khandapada, is in Nayagarh district.

Patnaik had maintained a low profile following the PCC disciplinary committee’s notice regarding his activity without informing PCC president Jayadev Jena and subsequent recommendation of action against him. He joined the Nayagarh rally on the plea of being invited by local party workers.

Out of eight blocks in the district, six block Congress presidents attended the Samabesh on Friday, Patnaik said.

The State Congress leadership has been awaiting the response of the AICC on the recommendation for disciplinary action against Soumya Patnaik, who is the younger brother of former PCC president Niranjan Patnaik and son-in-law of former Odisha Chief Minister and present Assam Governor JB Patnaik.
