After the simultaneous Assembly and Lok Sabha elections held in Odisha in April this year, the results of which were declared on May 23, an election-related petition was filed in the Orissa High Court on Thursday.
BJP candidate from Soro Assembly constituency Rakesh Kumar Malik has challenged the election of his BJD rival Parsuram Dhada urging the High Court’s intervention to declare the result null and void.
Malik in his petition has claimed that the BJD candidate had submitted a fake caste certificate during the time of filing his nomination papers. He has said that the Soro constituency is a reserved seat for SC and Dhada had submitted a fake SC certificate.
Malik’s counsel Shakti Kumar Senapati told this reporters after filing the petition in the court and maintained that the petition has not come up for hearing yet.
