A woman, who lost her memory after visiting lord Jagannath and having a holy dip in the sea at Puri and could not return to her village in Bhadrak district at least for a fortnight, was finally traced by her sons on Thursday.

Thanks to the Government Railway Police (GRP), the Sakhigopal-based Barunei Agragami Yuvak Sangha and the Missing Foundation which all helped Shantilata Das (65) return to her family of sons, daughter-in-laws and grandsons and grand daughters at Bijaynagar village in Bhadrak district’s Chandbali police limits.

Shantilata, a widow, had on March 17 left her villager for Puri to visit lord Jagannath. She paid her obeisance to the lord and took dip in the sea. But when she returned to the Puri railway station, she forgot which train to board and where to go. She then started moving aimlessly.

The GRP found her moving helplessly at the station on March 24 and handed her over to the Sakhigopal-based Ashakiran Home, which is run by the Barunei Agragami Yuvak Sangha. Then, the Missing Foundation turned for help on March 30. Foundation president Sushant Kumar Sahu succeeded in making Shantilata spell out her real address.

Son Jadumani and neighbour Naresh Chandra Senapaty came to the Ashakiran Home on Thursday.Ashakiran secretary Sangram Dash and project coordinator Radhamohan Panda handed over Shantilata to them.
