To facilitate the polio vaccination programme, the Education Department, on the orders of the District Magistrate, had decided to keep the schools open on Sunday where the health department had set up booths. However, the health department teams faced problems as many schools remained closed on the day. Interestingly, the education department had given a leave on Monday as compensation to these schools. The health department sources informed that the government schools of Dobhalwala, Dl road, Jhajhra and many other areas remained closed. It is learnt that the miffed district health officers have taken a serious note of the issue and registered their complaint with the higher authorities. When contacted the Chief Education Officer of Dehradun S P Khali said that he has not received any complaint of closure of schools. He said that strict action would be taken against the school staff if any such complaint is found true.
