The Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering (IIIE), Mumbai in partnership with the SOA University would organise a four-day international conference on ‘Role of Industrial Engineering in Industry 4.0 Paradigm” at the SOA University here from September 27, informed IIIE Odisha chapter president Prof RP Mohanty.
Mohanty said it would be held alongside the diamond jubilee national convention of the IIIE. He also said the idea is to create a platform for exchange and dissemination of knowledge in the emerging field of industry 4.0 and engage practicing professionals and academic researchers both at the national and international levels.
While industry 1.0 was driven by steam power as the first industrial revolution changed the world, industry 2.0 was propelled by electric power and electronics. Information technology steered industry 3.0, the third industrial revolution, Prof Mohanty added.
Themes like building the digital enterprise, designing the productivity and quality engineering systems, designing the supply chain management systems and designing the intelligent manufacturing systems and smart factories would be discussed.
