The SOA University here will collaborate with the Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore to conduct research in the field of molecular genetics and molecular biology. A research lab for the purpose is being set up at the Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) and Sum Hospital. Researcher Santhosh Sundaresan from the CMC, Vellore visited the IMS and Sum Hospital on Friday to see the available facilities and discuss about the project.
“This would be a pioneering venture in Odisha, as research in this area was yet to be taken up in the State. It can bring into focus the new areas of medical research,” said IMS and Sum Hospital Director (Research) Dr SS Kar, adding that molecular research could simplify the diagnosis process while low cost tools could be developed to treat patients.
