All the religious rituals related to Lord Jagannath’s Dev Snana Purnima were performed here on Monday.
It all began quite early in the morning here in the premises of Shri Hari Baladevjew Mandir of Baripada, known as the second Shrikshetra. The three deities of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra were duly taken outside from the sanctum sanctorum for snan (bath) and darshan.
Availing themselves of this great opportunity, that comes but once a year, thousands of devotees thronged the temple area to have a darshan of the deities.
Policemen were posted there in adequate number to control the crowd.
Everything, however, passed off smoothly.
The same rituals were also performed in another smaller Jagannath Temple of the town, known as Banthia Jagannath Mandir.
