A State BJP team headed by Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Pradipta Naik visited Haridaspur panchayat in Jajpur district on Friday and offered their condolences to deceased VLW Smitarani Biswal’s family members.
Later, Naik said Smitarani’s death was a well-planned murder and before being murdered she was gangraped. As the district administration and police are influencing the investigation process, the chances of her family getting justice are slim.
So, for an impartial inquiry, the investigations should be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI). Besides, he demanded suspension of the Jajpur Superintendent of Police for character assassination of the deceased.
Naik also demanded resignation of State Commission for Women (SCW) Chairperson Minati Behera for keeping silent over the matter and later trying to misguide the people of the State by saying that she has conducted an impartial inquiry.
Among others, Deputy Opposition Leader Bishnu Sethi, Chief Whip Mohan Majhi, MLAs Mukesh Mahaling, Sukanta Nayak and party spokesperson Golak Nayak were present.
