Hundreds of dwellers from various slums in the city on Thursday gheraoed the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) office demanding their inclusion under the Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY).
Alleging that they were left out in the recently-concluded survey undertaken by the civic body for the RAY intentionally, the slum-dwellers of Ganapatinagar and Kalyan Sahi, Maa Tarininagar, Bhaktamadhunagar and Dhirikutisahi in the Gadakana area urged the BMC Mayor to take immediate initiatives for a fresh survey and include them under the RAY. “The authorities have even collected Rs 1,500 per family to provide us a house under the RAY. But we have not been included in the survey,” said a protestor.
