Srinivas Mishra (45) of Govindpur in Nayagada district had visited the Pradipadara Sevashram School at Gumagad where his wife Mira Mahapatra is working as a teacher.
One Bikram Panda, a businessman of Sankrakhol, had been to the school.
He had an altercation with Mishra over the bouncing of a cheque of UCO bank. In a fit of anger, he slapped Mishra. Since the slap was heavy, Mishra fell unconscious and was soon shifted to Gumagad hospital. But there the doctor referred him to the Phulbani headquarters hospital.
On reaching there, the doctor examining Mishra declared him dead.
Mishra’s wife lodged a FIR in the Sadar Police Station in this connection. The police registered a case and have started an investigation.
