Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi has directed officials to conduct ground-level assessment of vacancies and requirement of skilled human resource in the State.

His directive, which came during a high-level meeting held at the State Secretariat here on Wednesday, is in consonance with the Government’s bid to make the skill development programmes more goal-based and effective, said sources.

Padhi suggested the officials to focus on quality training and creation of more job opportunities keeping in view the employment requirement and the prospects of new industries in the State.

The International labour Organisation (IlO) in collaboration with both State and Central Governments would conduct reviews in this regard, said officials.

Skill Development & Technical Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh and Panchayati Raj Secretary Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh suggested that preparation of skill development programmes be as per the market demand.

The review would be conducted as per the State’s requirement, said IlO South Asia Deputy Director Sher Singh, who attended the meeting.

Emphasis would be laid on creating job opportunities outside the State for skilled human resources apart from reviewing the industry possibility in the State, the sources said, adding that the IlO would prepare a special draft and present it for approval.
