A Central Skill Lab, providing the scope to medical students to learn and hone their skill on mannequins instead of using cadavers in medical colleges, was inaugurated at the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital here on Wednesday.
State Director of Medical Education and Training Prof (Dr) CBK Mohanty unveiled the lab. He said the lab would remove the possibility of infection for the students while improving their skill.
The lab would be particularly useful for teaching subjects like anatomy, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, orthopaedics and ENT. Students would get trained in the lab from the first year of the MBBS course.
