A four-member team of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) led by its chief Suresh Mohapatra met the Director General of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in New Delhi on Monday and discussed issues relating to repair and maintenance works of the Jagamohan of the temple scheduled to begin in December.
Notably, the ASI had suggested for shifting of deities from the Sanctum Sanctorum to undertake repairing work. To this, temple authorities said the deities can’t be shifted and ASI should find out alternative ways.
A meeting held last week here under the chairmanship of law Minister Arun Sahoo had decided to send a team to the ASI DG to hold discussions in detail. Sources said the team also urged the ASI DG to take of the situation personally besides sending an expert team for repair work.
