Six hurt in attack on Brahmapur sarpanch house

Miscreants reportedly attacked the house of Boulagam Sarpanch Surendranath Sethi of Rukumnigam village under Boulagam Gram Panchayat in Chhatrapur Block Thursday evening in which the Sarapanch along with his five supporters were injured, including two critically.

The injured were identified as Manu Pradhan, Bidyadhar Pradhan, Padma Charan Parida, Prasant Parida, and Biswanth Swain. Critically injured Manu and Bidyadhar are undergoing treatment in the Chatrapur Sub-Divisional Hospital.

The rowdy elements reportedly barged into the house of the Sethi at about 7.30 pm in the night and attacked him and his followers. They ransacked the entire house within a few minutes. Thereafter, the miscreants created terror and managed to flee the spot.

Sethi alleged that the local police deliberately did not come to the rescue of the victims and even outright refused to accept FIR.

According to information, even the police who visited Rukunigam village deliberately did not take note of the damage caused to the properties of Sethi.

It may be recalled here that on the last Holy festival, a group clash had occurred over distribution of booty in Chhatrapur block colony, and only after the public made a huge outcry, the police had taken action against the culprits.

Meanwhile, the attention of the Chhatrapur SP has been drawn to the attack on the Sarpanch and his followers.
