A joint eviction team consisting of officials from the BDA and the BMC on Saturday demolished unauthorised constructions on both sides of road from Sisubhavan to Master Canteen Square under Capital police station.
During the eviction drive, a total of 10 thatched houses (used for hotel), seven temporary structures and eight wooden cabins were demolished.
It was observed that many of the shop owners specifically electronic and furniture shops encroached upon the identified public parking areas which were vacated by the squad. They were warned not to encroach upon the public paths and parking places again, as it cause public inconveniences.
Two excavators from the BDA and the BMC were engaged for the eviction drive.
BDA Enforcement Officer Pramod Kumar Patro and liasioning Officer Subhransu Sekhar Mohanty were present.
