Silver coins: CB may quiz Seashore CMD

Published on:

A day after seizing 1,000 silver coins, each weighing 100 grams, worth Rs 45 lakh from Seashore group chief Prashant Dash’s bank locker, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch (CB) is contemplating to bring Dash on remand from the Koraput Jail to know his motive behind keeping the gold coins.

Sources said the CB officials are inquiring whether Dash has such lockers in other banks. The CB will soon apply at the Koraput SDJM court seeking remand of Dash for interrogation to know his motive behind keeping the silver coins.

The CB may also interrogate the BDJ Jewellery whose name was stamped on all silver coins in this connection, sources further stated.

Notably, the EOW on Saturday had seized 100 kg of silver coins from arrested Dash’s personal bank locker at Axis Bank’s Bomikhal branch in the city. The coins have the logo of Seashore Group on one side and images of Goddess lakshmi and Ganesh on the other.

Meanwhile, the Jeypore Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM), rejected the bail plea of Dash and sent him to judicial custody for 14 days. Dash was arrested from Mumbai by a joint team of Semiliguda police and the CB on the basis of an FIR filed at the Semiliguda police station for cheating investors of the area.
