The idol of lord Shree lingaraj, the presiding deity of Bhubaneswar, will once again have a silver cladding from Monday.
The decision to again clad the idol in silver lingam was taken at a lingaraj Temple Trust Board meeting on Saturday.
Notably, the decorative silver lingam had adorned the idol of lord lingaraj for a few days after it was donated by a devotee last year. It was later removed from the idol after a dispute erupted over it.
The meeting of the trust board was called following a decision of the sub-committee on the silver cladding for the idol. The trust board approved the silver cover for the lord’s idol, informed ADM-cum-Chairman of Temple Trust Board Abanikanta Patnaik.
In a separate decision, the trust board decided to rent out the Swastik Mandap at the Dakara Bibhishana temple with the rent fixed at `4,000 per day. The Dakara Bibhishana temple, which had been encroached upon, was restired to the control of the lingaraj Temple Trust Board recently.
The trust board also decided to move the Supreme Court over the dispute on a piece of land at Rameshwarpatna. The trust board’s meeting, which was chaired by the ADM-cum-Chairman of the board, was attended by all its members.
