A 10-day Silk India Expo, organised by the Hastashilpi, a welfare association of artisans and weavers, got underway at a city hotel here on Saturday.
Ollywood actress Elina Padhi inaugurated the expo. Silk Saree weavers, handloom clusters and silk co-operative societies from various places across the country are showcasing their products at the expo. The event is aimed at making the products of weavers and artisans accessible to the customers directly without any third party or mediators, said organizer Abhinand
A total of 65 stalls are installed at the exhibition showcasing products like hand block Sarees, Mysore silk Sarees,embroidered designer silk saris, bed covers, dress materials and many more. The event would continue till August 15.
