The 70th Independence Day was celebrated in different parts of the city on Monday with pomp and gaiety. Southern Division RDC Dr Akhil Bihari Otta unfurled the National Flag at the Khallikote Cluster University stadium.
As many as 39 troupes participated in the parade. Several cultural events were staged by students of various schools and colleges of the city on the occasion. later, prizes were distributed among the participants and meritorious students of the schools in the silk city.
Brahmapur MlA Dr Ramesh Chandra Chaupatnaik, BDA Chairman Subash Moharana, Sub-Collector and National Day Observation Committee president laxmikant Sethi, DSP Thakur Prsad Patro, office team of SDIPRO and other officials present, among others.
The Independence Day was also celebrated with much fanfare in the district headquarters town Chhatrapur. Collector Prem Chandra Chaudhury hoisted the Tricolour flag at the police ground.
Among others, Ganjam DIPRO Gurbir Singh and other officials were present.
