The strike of the Odisha Sikshya Sahayak Association here reached the fourth day on Wednesday even as a scuffle erupted between the police and the protestors.
Thousands of Sikhya Sahayaks are on strike demanding fulfilment of their four-point charter of demands.
The association reacted sharply to the Government’s move to foil their stir and condemned the apathy of the Government towards their plight. As per Section 18 of the Right to Education Act, 2010, teaching assistants are entitled to get regular salaries, allowances and additional benefits deemed fit for the job, said association general secretary Judhisthir Sahu.
The Sikshya Sahayaks demand job regularisations, adequate salary according to the work and elimination of the 2012 OTET, etc.
“We will continue our strike till the Government fulfils our demands,” said association president Sunil Pradhan and secretary Arta Bhanjan Sahu.
