The Ganesh Puja was celebrated with religious fervour in homes, schools, colleges, Government offices and business establishments across the silk city on Friday.
On the occasion, a large crowd visited the Siddhi Vinayak temple in Hillapatna here and offered prayers for knowledge and prosperity. like every year, a large ladoo was offered to lord Ganesh and was later auctioned.
This year, a 21 kg ladoo was offered and sold at Rs 21,501. local MlA Dr Ramesh Chandra Chyaupatnaik distributed ladoos to the devotees. Among others, Surendra Chaudhy, Susanta Sabat, Ashok Sahu, Ratnakar Sabat, Samir Patro, Balaram Panda and Ashok Panda were present.
Similarly, the SMIT celebrated the festival at its different units. The Kalinga Vidya Mandir, Neelakantha Saraswati Shisu Vidyamandir, Government Girls’ High School, Maa Saraswati Shisu Mandir, Khallikote Cluster University and the Sashi Bhusan Rath Women’s College also celebrated the puja.
The puja was also conducted in the New Barracks Street, Park Street, Ashok Nagar and Aska Road areas.
