A poster of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) in Mumbai featuring a wrong photo of the Puri Shree Jagannath Temple has sparked a controversy.

According to reports, Sambhunath Khuntia, a servitor of the temple had noticed the error in the IRCTC’s Bharat Darshan poster at the railway station during his recent visit to Mumbai. He took photos of the poster, in which a portion bearing the text “Puri Jagannath Temple” depicts a picture of a different temple.

Khuntia posted the photos of the poster on Facebook in a bid to draw the attention of others towards the error. He has mentioned in the post that though he contacted the concerned authorities, they expressed their unawareness about the matter.

The post has gone viral on the social networking platform after being shared by many.

On Wednesday, members of the Jagannath Sena today staged a protest at the Puri railway station opposing the IRCTC’s poster.

“They have put a wrong photo in the poster, thereby hurting the sentiments of the lord’s devotees. A case should be registered into the incident. We believe in nonviolence, for which we have resorted to a peaceful protest here. The wrong picture should be removed immediately and replaced with a photo of the Shreemandir as soon as possible,” said Jagannath Sena convenor Priyadarshan Patnaik.

Meanwhile, Shreemandir information officer Sudeep Chatterjee said the concerned poster has been removed from the railway station.
