The Samajwadi Party on Tuesday urged the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) to intervene in the suicidal death of two tribal women of Balisahi village under the Telkoi police limit in Keonjhar district who were deprived of basic healthcare. The party demanded `10 lakh as compensation to each deceased’s family.
The two women belonging to Balisahi village died recently after consuming poison. Both of them were suffering from severe illnesses for days together and did not get basic health facilities. The severe pain of their illnesses became unbearable, for which they ended their lives.
“The death of these helpless poor tribal women reflects the failure of all basic health schemes implemented by the State and Central Governments,” said SP State president Rabi Behera.
