Show-cause to Daitapati chiefs for 'indiscipline'

The Shree Jagannath Temple administration on Monday issued show-cause notices to two servitors of Daitapati Niyog for 'indiscipline' and delay in rituals of the Bahuda Yatra at Puri.

Niyog president Ramakrushana Dasmohapatra and secretary Premananda Dasmohapatra have been asked to reply within seven days of the notification. Both of them may be suspended if they fail to give satisfactory answers, temple administration sources said. The notification was issued under the Shree Jagannath Temple Act 1955.

Sources said Ramakrushna had a verbal duel with Temple Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee on the Bahuda Yatra day when the latter prevented some non-servitors to climb onto the chariots.

The Niyog president also allegedly clashed with the on-duty security officials. Similarly, Premananda allegedly delayed the rituals of the deities before the Pahandi for Bahuda Yatra.
