Joda being mining area, people from different parts of Odisha in including outside Odisha come here to work here in the mines, factories and start private business. During the process, many of them acquire lands by means of sale deed or encroaching upon Government land and become permanent inhabitants of Joda. Previously there has been attempt by the administration to evict the encroachers but in vain. However ,this time, the local administration led by Barbil Tehsildar Arun Kumar Malik conducted an eviction drive at ward no-3 and ward no -9 under Joda Municipality. During eviction, three shops were demolished. The shops belonged to Rajesh Patra, Maya Patra and Hardev Maharaja. One tin shade of Krishna Sharma also was razed. During the drive, IIC Sumeet Soren, Additional Tehsildar Manoranjan Deo, Joda RI and other Government officials were present.
