Shops, banks told to install CCTVs

Concerned over a spate of burglaries in jewellery shop, banks and other business establishments here, the Commissionerate Police on Wednesday asked the major shops and banks between the Vani Vihar square and the Sisu Bhavan to install close circuit TVs (CCTVs) at their entrances and parking places to identify the miscreants easily. They too were asked to deploy security guards in front of their entrances as a must.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) was asked to make the owners and officials of the shops and banks aware of the decision.

“In first phase, we will ask the banks and business establishments working between the Vani Vihar square and the Sisu Bhavan to install CCTVs at their entrances and parking places to prevent loot incidents. The installation of the CCTVs would also make the investigation process easy as it will capture the video footage of every moment,” said ACP (Traffic) Binod Das.

In yet another major decision, the city police also started an initiative to find out accident-prone places in the capital city.

“The accident-prone areas will be divided into two categories like severe and slight. After identification of places and evaluation of reasons, follow- up action would be taken promptly,” said Das.
