A fire broke out in the stock room of Khadims showroom at the Pal Heights Shopping Mall at Jayadev Vihar here damaging leather materials worth around Rs 5 lakh on Tuesday afternoon.
However, no causality or injury was reported. On getting information from the shopping mall manager two fire-fighting vehicles were rushed to the spot and it took about one hour to douse the flame.
“The store manager first noticed smoke emanating from the stock room at the ground floor of the multi-storied mall and informed us,” said Bhubaneswar Assistant Fire Station Officer Babaji Charan lenka
The mishap took place due to a short circuit in the wiring of the store which is attached to Central AC duct. The ceiling got burnt and soon the materials in the store, all leather items such as, shoes, wallets etc, caught fire,” he added.
