Shishir 'fears' life threat from wife's family

Shishir Gamang, son of former Chief Minister Giridhar Gamang, on Monday filed a petition at the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) against family members of his wife Monica and sought security for him and his son.

“I informed SHRC about the criminal antecedents of some of the family members of my wife. I fear that they may frame me in false cases or even try to beat me up and kill me and also my son,” said Shishir.

However, the SHRC authorities forwarded the petition to the Bhubaneswar DCP and other competent police authorities citing that the matter does not come under their purview.

In his petition, Shishir alleged that his father-in-law was accused in two murders but acquitted due to lack of evidence.

Shishir had lodged a complaint on Saturday at the Commissionerate police ACP (Zone-III) against his wife Monica accusing her of torturing him and their 10-year-old son physically and mentally as well as of infidelity.  He had also alleged that his wife had taken away `12-15 lakh cash and jewellery worth `2.30 crore after leaving the house with her boyfriend.
