Shilpaguru Ananta Maharana (85) has planned to open an exhibition gallery at Dandasahi village at Chandanpur in Puri district in a bid to encourage and give a platform to newcomers for showcasing their artworks.
Budding artists would be provided paper and colours to sit and draw on the spot. later, their works would be displayed there. This would attract many tourists to the village, hoped the 86-year-old artist.
On Monday, Moharana played host to foreign tourists and showcased his creations to them at Dandasahi. The elderly artist, who spends most of his time with colours and canvas for better promotion of Odishi Pattachitra, teaches students in a Gurukul-like atmosphere.
