The Odisha Shiksha Sahayak Association (OSSA) staged a massive demonstration in front of the State Assembly here demanding fulfilment of their five-point charter of demands on Wednesday.
The demands include regularization of jobs after three years of service, naming them as junior teacher instead of Shiksha Sahayak and entitling them to basic pay of Rs 5,200 along with grade pay of Rs 2,200 besides 10 per cent annual increment.
OSSA president Prasanta Kumar Sundaray alleged that even after assurances from the Government on many occasions, the concerned authority has been betraying the teachers since 2009 in fulfilling their legitimate demands.
The Government had held discussions with us twice in March 19 and August 8 last on our issues. The School and Mass Education Minister also discussed with us on August 8, but nothing positive has happened as yet, said Sundaray.
He informed that now 40,000 Shiksha Sahayaks are working in the State and 52,000 Primary and Upper Primary teachers are working against the sanctioned 50,000 posts.
