'Shift Ganjam DM office to Brahmapur'

Published on:

The State Government was on Friday urged for shifting of the Ganjam district Collector’s office and the RTO from Chhatrapur to Brahmapur in the larger interests of people of the district.

The Bharatiya Bikash Parishad wrote to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in this regard.

“Brahmapur is the most suitable place for Collectorate and RTO as most other important offices like RDC (Southern Division), DGP and SP offices, the District Judge court and Central Government offices are located here and the city is located in the middle of the district. While Brahmapur is having road and railway communications, Chhatrapur has no direct communication from all 22 blocks of the district,” argued S Panigrahi of the Parishad in the letter.

He too apprised the Chief Minister that people of border areas are changing two buses to reach the Collector office at Chhatrapur for they are getting expensive in terms of both money and time. Besides, Brahmapur is the business centre to the whole of south Odisha and many bordering areas of Andhra Pradesh, he apprised the Chief Minister.
